City Council amends Doris Subdivision setback restrictions

By Craig Hastings
Per a recommendation from the Planning Commission the city council during its meeting Monday, July 24 unanimously approved a request by Owen Tucker to amend the setback restrictions in the Doris Subdivision.

Tucker is the developer of the subdivision south of East Barker Street and west of North Prairie Street. This will allow for homes being built on the smaller lots to increase the overall square footage of those homes.

The council also unanimously approved spending $14,567 to improve the much-needed backstop netting on the Girls Softball diamond located in Ervin Park. Beacon Athletics will provide the materials needed to supplement the concrete construction portion of the project. The project is expected to start immediately in order for seeding and repair of other ground disturbance from the construction before fall. If all goes well the diamond will be ready for play next spring.

City Administrator Drew Hoel informed the council that the faulty coil in the air conditioning system at the Community Building has been replaced and the system is operating at its full capacity at this time.

In other business the council:

  • Approved the payment of bills in the amount of $73,866.40.
  • Will meet next on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at Tuscola City Hall.
