Hornets close regular season play with sound records

Monday, Jan. 16
EP-32; OLOL-37

The Hornets fell to a closely matched Decatur Our Lady of the Lourdes 32-37.

Jalen Quinn (seven rebounds) had 12 points in the effort, and Haven Hatfield (three rebounds) put up seven. Peyton Armstrong (two rebounds) added six points.

Patrick Pierce (three rebounds) tallied three points, while Caden Baer (one rebound) and Thomas Brown had two each.

James Parsley pulled down three rebounds; Preston Brown grabbed two.

Thursday, Jan. 19
EP-47; Sullivan-18

It was a different story Thursday night as the Hornets stomped Sullivan 47-18.

Quinn (eight rebounds) put up 16 points, and Patrick Pierce (five rebounds) put together 13 points.

Hatfield (four rebounds) had seven points, Armstrong (two rebounds) added six, Jayden Gaines (one rebound) tallied three, and Connor Lewis had two.

Riley Nolan grabbed three rebounds, and John Hegarty and T. Brown pulled down one each.

The seventh graders ended at 18-4 for the regular season as regional tournament play started Saturday, Jan. 21.

Eighth Grade
Monday, Jan. 16
EP-23; OLOL-46

The eighth graders never got their defense rolling in a 23-46 loss to Decatur Our Lady of the Lourdes.

Grant Hardwick (six rebounds) led the Hornets with eight points. Donovan Chester (seven rebounds) had five points, and Michael Calderon (five rebounds) tallied four. Cole Cunningham (five rebounds) went home with three points, Amir Sykes (one rebound) had two points, and Nathan Koester (three rebounds) added one.

Thursday, Jan. 19
EP-40; Sullivan-22

A dominant Hornet defense kept Sullivan in single-digit scoring during each quarter of the Thursday, Jan. 19 Tuscola win, 40-22.

Calderon (four rebounds) led the team with 16 points, and Chester tallied nine points with a big 11 rebounds. Hardwick (three rebounds) added five, and Cunningham (two rebounds) had three.

Ben Tiezzi (one rebound), Tytus Rennert (one rebound), and Amir Sykes (one rebound) had two points each. Nathan Koester (six rebounds) added one point.

Matthew Erickson grabbed one rebound.

The eighth grade Hornets closed the regular season at 16-6 record. The team heads to the regional tourney Saturday, Jan. 28.
